It’s week 5 and you know what time it is!!  Happy hour is here and Woah Nelly am I so happy!  This week’s cocktail is The Black Swan!  Oh yes, simple, fun, and unexpected flava!!  Just like week 5’s reveal!

Ok let me back up ..   2 years ago I came across this sink.  I knew I would use it in a project one day, but didn’t quite know how or when.  So when I decided to do my first One Room Challenge, it hit me…  I was using this sink!  I don’t consider myself a selfish person, but I may be a little on this because “IT”S MINE.. “IT’S ALL MINE”!!  So allow me to introduce you to this beauty!

The architectural detail is just so easy yet defined.  The fluid lines and rippling type effect give that illusion of looking into a pool of water and the slight drop of water creates artistic movement that can’t be duplicated.  (That was deep yall… soak it in)  So not only is it incredibly fascinating to look at, it is also made out of paper!!  The product is Richlite.  It’s a resin-infused paper that was developed over 70 years ago.  It’s becoming more and more popular today due to its Greenguard and FSC Certifications.  It’s used for countertops, skateboard ramps, cabinetry, furniture, guitar frets, and so much more.  In a nutshell, not only is it bad ass to look at, its also helping the environment.  You can read more about it here..

So a sink made out of paper??  What sense does that make?!  I don’t always make sense my friends, but when I do …!!!

Let’s recap.. Foo La La metallic grasscloth wallpaper, Panda White custom vanity, Richlite custom sink, and introducing the Swan faucet!!

Call it literal design, but the illusion of water just beckoned for a Swan Faucet, right?!  It is amazing… Everytime I pick it up I feel like I’m receiving an Academy Award.  Hopefully by the end, I’ll be able to do the famous Sally Fields speech!  I have to admit that when I first showed my husband he looked at me like I had 14 heads, but now he loves it too!  Just another lesson in allowing your designer to take the reigns and also not taking yourself too seriously!!

I have to say, the plumbing has been the greatest challenge to this design.  The hole for the sink needed to be wider, which my stone guys took care of beautifully.  The faucet does not come with an overflow valve, which meant the pop up drain need to be without an overflow drain.. in gold.  It took some researching, but finally found the right size and finish! (Thank you Home Depot).  Remember all of the plumbing lines that were behind the pedestal sink (week 2)? Well now being exposed, they needed to be pretty so all were switched out for gold finish as well.  I have an amazing plumber who is so very patient and  calm.  Willie is the man!

So what’s in store next week??  We are rounding the corner!!  Last touches of mirror and lighting and we are done!  I’m beginning to see the light (see what I did there) and so excited to reveal!

Have a wonderful week.  Check out the ORC creativity out there.  Until next time.. Let’s Portfolio Up!
