One Room Challenge - Week 1!

Today is the day!!

I hope you’re feeling fancy and have a cocktail in hand ready to get this design party started!  What’s MY cocktail today?  Oh that would be a Highball of excitement with a twist of anxiousness!!

Today begins Week 1 of the One Room Challenge!  Is that like an escape room Nancy?  Ha!  Well by the end of the 6 weeks lets hope not!  (I will crack myself up so be prepared).  The official description: “ORC, currently in its eighteenth season, is a widely anticipated biannual event every April and October. Each round, twenty design influencers are selected to take the challenge, as Featured Designers, and transform a space. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over six weekly posts.

In addition to following along, everyone with a blog or Instagram account, is welcome to join the fun as a Guest Participant (that’s ME!)  Each Thursday, the internet and social media are flooded with interior design inspiration, ideas, and encouragement.”  There’s no winners or losers, just a challenge that is full of support and community..which is extremely needed right now!

Ok, now for the goods!

It’s my Powder Room (insert Oprah’s voice) !!

“Mama’s at it again!”

Thinking back over the 7 houses we’ve had over a span of a glorious 28 year marriage (maybe that’s the secret..keep it moving yall!)  I have NEVER really given the powder room it’s proper love.  Yeah, I’ve painted and hung some art, but short of that…snooze.  Not Todaayyy!!  It’s about time I made all the ideas in my head for this room to come to fruition.

Some background:  This is my townhome located in the cutest historic district in uptown Charlotte, NC.  It’s brand new construction to which most people would say, “there’s nothing we have to do”!  That’s most people, and fortunately I have a wonderful husband who rolls with it and lets me do my jam.  So far, I’ve updated almost everything…except for my kitchen backsplash which I’m dying to do!  Maybe that will be next ORC!

Ok back to this challenge!  Not much to say.. it’s beige builder grade paint(aka chalk), pedestal sink, wall mirror, and sconce.  All of which is perfectly fine, however when you close that door it feels a bit like an unpadded cell.

So what’s my plan?!  All of it gone, except for the toilet.  It’s fine and frankly it’s new and does its job..that’s as practical as I’m gonna get.

Over the next 6 weeks, I hope you will join me for Happy Hour to celebrate through the process and also be introduced to other designers and some things I can guarantee you have NEVER seen before!!!!!!  So until next week my friends, let’s Portfolio UP!
